Colon – River
Colon fans will have felt devastated after the team’s 2-1 away defeat to Barracas Central at Huracan despite having taken the first lead. El Sabalero claimed a single victory across their last four league matches, drawing one and losing two. The team are producing a good campaign in the Copa Liga Profesional, accumulating 13 points to occupy one of the playoff spots in group A. However, they also are threatened by relegation, sharing the drop spot with Gimnasia LP and Huracan at the moment. Colon are unbeaten in their last four home matches, winning three and drawing one since losing to Tigre 3-1 in July.
River Plate are slightly returning to their usual skills in the league. Last time out, they beat Talleres 1-0 at home following an enjoyable performance, with Salomon Rondon netting the winner in the first half. El Millonario extended their unbeaten streak to five Copa Liga Profesional matches, winning four and drawing one to become group A leaders on 16 points, one above second-placed Independiente. On away turf, the defending champions collected four points in as many matches in this competition as a product of one victory, one draw and two losses. Franco Armani, Nicolas De la Cruz, Paulo Diaz and Salomon Rondon will miss out as they are involved in international duties with their respective national teams.
Some important missings for River, Colon are not reliable right now but they are getting desperate to get points to avoid relegation while River are in a very solid moment, so I”d expect goals here because the hosts will have to take risks.
