CA Central Cordoba are currently living a dream in the Copa Liga Profesional. As a result, El Ferroviario made it three league matches unbeaten (two victories and one draw) to enter the playoff zone in group B on 13 points. Besides, they took a healthy four-point advantage over the relegation spot in the aggregate table, shared by Gimnasia LP, Huracan and Colon. At Estadio Madre de Ciudades, Central registered three victories and a single loss in this competition so far.
Lanus are the worst team in the Copa Liga Profesional. Last time out, the team showed another worrying performance and ended up losing 2-0 at home against Defensa y Justicia’s alternative XI. Following that result, El Granate remain bottom in group B on just three points after eight rounds, drawing three and losing five so far. That terrible campaign displaced them from the continental spots in the aggregate table as the side are now two points behind the last qualifying berth with six rounds to go. To make matters worse, Lanus are on six away games without a win, having drawn two and lost four in that span. Coach Ricardo Zielinski will make his debut on Monday. Juan Sanchez Mino and Juan Caceres have served their respective suspensions but the first one succumbed to a knee injury and will miss out.
Central Cordoba are on a great run as they keep escaping the relegation spot. They are very strong at home and they will face this Lanus who won’t have Leandro Diaz, their best striker, and will need time to adapt to their new coach so I can’t understand why they would be favorites here.
