Banfield – Colon
Banfield continue to improve game after game. Last Monday, the team focused on defending and secured a massive point following a scoreless away draw at Talleres. El Taladro are now without defeat in their last six league games (two victories and four stalemates) to make it 16 points, which is not enough to enter the playoff zone in the Copa Liga Profesional group A but it is to hold a four-point gap over the relegation spot in the aggregate table with just three rounds to go. Banfield lost only once across their last eight at home, along with four victories and three draws in that spell. Defensive midfielder Eric Remedi is suspended after seeing his fifth yellow card at Talleres.
Colon new coach Israel Damonte experienced a happy debut as his team secured a necessary 1-0 home success over Atletico Tucuman last time out, with an own goal from Nicolas Romero in the first half. El Sabalero put an end to a four-match winless streak of two draws and two defeats in league action to make 17 points in the Copa Liga Profesional, returning to the playoff spots in group A. However, they are now in the relegation spot. On a sorry note, Colon are on four consecutive defeats as the visiting side.
Huge game for both, but especially for Colon who are now the only team in the relegation place after Huracan and Sarmiento won, and Union drew. Banfield is 4 points above them but with a lot of teams in between so they are pretty much safe. I can see the visitors taking risks, the hosts will have an important absence as defensive midfielder Eric Remedi is suspended, and I expect at least a couple of goals here.
