Argentina Primera Division: Defensa y Justicia vs San Lorenzo for January 26, 2019

Defensa y Justicia vs San Lorenzo

Defensa y Justicia continues to enjoy the club’s best campaign in history. Last Saturday, the side won 1-0 at River Plate with Matias Rojas scoring a direct free-kick to remain as the only unbeaten team in the Superliga. Defensa stays in the second spot on 33 points, only three behind leaders Racing Club. At home, they collected 15 of those points following four victories and three draws.

San Lorenzo showed great improvements in the derby against Huracan last time out and they were close to winning in spite of Fabrizio Coloccini’s sending-off in the first half. However, the team eventually had to settle for a scoreless draw, which means El Ciclon are winless in their last seven league matches (drawing four and losing three). San Lorenzo is languishing in 22nd spot on 14 points and they also are yet to win on the road, having collected only four points from 21 available.

San Lorenzo looked much improved last weekend despite the 0- 0 draw and they will definitely play much more offensive football this semester under coach Jorge Almiron and their renewed squad. Defensa y Justicia has scored at least 1 goal in 14 of the 15 league matches they’ve played, so I expect an open game here.
