Banfield returned to winning ways after four league matches (one draw and three defeats) last weekend, when beating Godoy Cruz 2-0 away from home. Thanks to that success, the team left the relegation zone and are now two points above Rosario Central in that table. El Taladro managed seven points in as many weeks of league action, but they lost their last two home matches to Boca Juniors and Talleres.
After a promising start in the Superliga, San Lorenzo are now on two consecutive defeats following their 2-0 home loss to league leaders Boca Juniors last weekend. This mini negative run saw them dropping down from first to the sixth spot of the league table on 13 points. El Ciclon managed six points from nine on offer on the road, having beaten Gimnasia LP and Sarandi Arsenal and lost to Colon. San Lorenzo coach Juan Antonio Pizzi will be missing Lucas Menossi, who collected his fifth yellow card against Boca Juniors and is suspended. Victor Salazar suffered a knee injury in that game and will miss out while Fabricio Coloccini remains doubtful.
San Lorenzo keeps adding players to their injured/suspended list and this means further problems for their already weak defense. Six of their seven league games had at least two goals, and I expect the same trend to continue here.
