UEFA Euro Qualifiers: Rep Of Ireland vs Switzerland Odds for September 5, 2019

UEFA Euro Ireland Vs. Switzerland Asian Connect

The  Swiss travel to Dublin tonight and do so and really need to win if they are in with a chance of qualifying in the top 2 places and not going through the playoffs to make Euro 2020. It must be said all is not rosy in the Swiss camp and Liverpool’s Shaqiri has been left out of the squad for the match today which is a blow. However, even making a negative adjustment for that loss i still make the Swiss a bet in Dublin tonight. I was impressed with them in their Nations League games in the summer when they took on hosts Portugal and while they were beaten they were extremely unfortunate in that game, they then held England to a 0-0 draw in the 3rd/4th place playoffs. They have a higher standard of player than the Irish with the likes of Embolo of Borussia Monchengladbach, Xhaka of Arsenal, Freuler of Atalanta, Rodriguez of AC Milan and Seferovic of Benfica to name a few. The Irish team news is not great, there is no Brady, Arter and McCarthy all of which may have started for the boys in green while Wolves Matt Doherty is also missing with Sean Maguire who would have been players you would have expected to feature from the bench, Shane Long of Southampton has also been left out of the squad and we have seen Jack Byrne of Shamrock Rovers in the league of Ireland called into the squad. Ireland has a real issue scoring goals and the fact they only scored the 2nd of their 2 goals in their 2-0 win over Gibraltar in 92nd minute of injury time and scored 5 in their last 9 matches shows when they are at the moment as  national team. They will probably start when Glenn Whelan in midfield, who is a player who has recently gone to Scottish Premier League side Hearts and who is struggling by all accounts. It shows the difference between the teams when Whelan is probably starting at 35and a half years of age and I think the Swiss-0.25 is a bet at the current odds.
