Central Cordoba had a sorry debut on their return to the top flight after 48 years. In spite of having produced a worthy performance, the team ended up losing 2-0 at Newell’s Old Boys in Rosario. Therefore, El Ferroviario’s ten-game unbeaten run of five victories and five draws came to an end. Central won five and drew five of their last 11 home matches in the second tier, only losing to Instituto 3-1 in March.
Atletico Tucuman still has work to do after this winter’s hectic transfer window. The team had an uninspiring debut in the Superliga and suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Rosario Central last Monday. That means El Decano are on four consecutive losses in all competitions. Ricardo Zielinski’s men were also beaten in their last five away matches since beating Banfield 2-1 in March.
Both teams had poor defensive performances last week and I can’t see this getting better this week as Central Cordoba will try to prove they belong in the top flight while Atletico will try to recover from last week’s defeat and I expect an open game.
