San Lorenzo v Barracas Central

San Lorenzo fans will have felt frustrated after the team’s 1-1 away stalemate at Godoy Cruz last Saturday (a MD3 game abandoned in May) as Francisco Fydriszewski missed a penalty in stoppage time. El Ciclon are producing a poor Liga Profesional campaign, accumulating 18 points in 17 rounds after winning only one of their last five (two draws and two losses), which keeps them just eight points above the relegation spot in the aggregate table. As a result, coach Leandro Romagnoli left the club. At home, they won two and lost one of the last three. Coach Miguel Angel Russo will start his second spell at the club on Sunday.

Barracas Central are clearly the worst team in the league at the moment. Their 1-1 home stalemate against Independiente Rivadavia at Deportivo Riestra means El Guapo won only one of their last 16 league matches, drawing six and losing nine, which keeps them bottom in the Liga Profesional table on 12 points. However, they remain safe from relegation threats at the moment. On away turf, Barracas claimed a single win across their last eight, along with three stalemates and four losses.

San Lorenzo finally has an experienced coach like Miguel Angel Russo who returns to the club after 15 years, and even though they had only a few training sessions under him I expect that his arrival should be a morale boosts and they should be able to beat this poor Barracas.
