Newell’s – Tigre

Newell’s Old Boys see their crisis going deeper week after week. Last Sunday, the team were dominated from beginning to end and succumbed to a deserved 3-0 away defeat to Argentinos Juniors. La Lepra are on eight league games without a win, drawing four and losing four, which left them on 13 points in the Liga Profesional and forces them to improve in order to stay away from relegation threats. In fact, Newell’s managed two points from the last 15 on offer at Estadio Marcelo Bielsa. As a result of this terrible spell, coach Sebastian Mendez left the club. Ricardo Lunari will take over as interim boss on Saturday.

Tigre showed a deflated version last weekend, but they were able to secure a valuable 1-1 home stalemate against Gimnasia LP thanks to a strike from Tomas Galvan in the second half. Newell’s are probably one of the worst teams in the league right now, they will miss their goalkeeper Lucas Hoyos and their right back Mendez due to injuries and they will be under an interim coach after some really bad results, Tigre is looking improved, their confidence is much better after some good results and they need points to avoid relegation so I expect them to avoid a defeat here.
