Deportivo Riestra – Huracan
Deportivo Riestra seem to be well-adapted to the top flight. Last time out, the team showed a good performance to secure a massive scoreless away draw at Union Santa Fe (one of the best teams in the league). El Malevo made it three victories and one stalemate across the last five in this competition (along with a single defeat) to accumulate 19 points in the Liga Profesional, which allows them to hold a nine-point gap over the relegation spot in the point-average table, occupied by Independiente Rivadavia. Riestra also are going through a five-match winning streak at Estadio Guillermo Laza. Striker Antony Alonso is set to return on Friday after overcoming a muscle injury.
Huracan’s excellent moment of form has been stopped last time out, when they suffered a surprising 2-0 home defeat to relegation candidates Tigre. As a result, El Globo are no longer one of the Liga Profesional leaders as they remain on 24 points, trailing table toppers Velez Sarsfield by three. Frank Kudelka’s men also saw their 15-match unbeaten streak of eight victories and seven draws in league action coming to an end. El Globo remain occupying one of the Copa Sudamericana spots in the aggregate table and stay without defeat in their last seven on away turf, winning two and drawing five.
Riestra are on a good run, especially at home where they beat big clubs like San Lorenzo, River and Independiente this year. Huracan comes from a big defeat vs Tigre, they are slowing down after the first rounds where they were performing above their real potential, and they should be in trouble against this solid Riestra.
