Platense vs San Lorenzo
Platense returned to winning ways last time out thanks to their effectiveness in a hard-fought away match at Independiente Rivadavia, which they won 2-0 with Mateo Pellegrino and Ronaldo Martinez’s scoring. El Calamar put an end to a three-game winless streak of one draw and two defeats in league action to accumulate 15 points in the Liga Profesional and to continue escaping relegation threats. On a sorry note, Platense remain without a win in their last three at home, drawing one and losing two without even scoring since beating Boca Juniors 1-0 in June.
San Lorenzo took a big breather last Sunday, securing an important 2-0 home success over Talleres thanks to goals from Alexis Cuello and Elian Irala. El Ciclon put an end to their four-match winless streak of two stalemates and two defeats in league action to make it ten points in the Liga Profesional and to open a healthy nine-point gap over the relegation zone in the aggregate table, still holding one game in hand.
San Lorenzo finally won a game after a few good performances where they had been unlucky not to take the 3 points and will go to visit Platense, who has struggled at home lately, with a much improved morale so I expect them to at least avoid a defeat.
