Copa Libertadores: Sao Paulo (Brazil) vs Nacional (Uruguay) Odds for August 22, 2024

Sao Paulo (Brazil) vs Nacional (Uruguay)

Sao Paulo FC took an important point on their visit to Nacional last Thursday, when drawing 0-0 away in an uneventful game. Now they are just one home win away from the Copa Libertadores’ quarter-finals. On Sunday, Luis Zubeldia’s men lost 2-1 away at arch-rivals SE Palmeiras, dropping down to the sixth spot of the Brazilian league table on 38 points and stopping their five-game unbeaten streak of three victories and two draws in all competitions. At home, O Tricolor haven’t lost any of the last eight, winning seven and drawing one.

Nacional wasted a big chance in the first leg as they were ineffective up front and had to settle for a scoreless home stalemate against Sao Paulo FC a week ago. On Sunday, coach Martin Lasarte rotated his players and the team drew 3-3 away at River Plate in the Uruguayan Torneo Clausura opener. El Bolso made it nine competitive matches without defeat, winning five and drawing four in regular time. On away turf, Nacional grabbed seven points from the last nine available.

The 1st leg was a boring scoreless draw but I expect something different here. Sao Paulo is very strong at home where they’ve scored at least once in their last 7 games and one goal should open things up and we should have more so I’ll go for the OVER.
