Union – Argentinos Jrs
Union Santa Fe were close to secure a massive away success last time out, but they eventually had to settle for a 1-1 away stalemate at Belgrano after conceding in the third minute of stoppage time. However, El Tatengue are producing an excellent campaign in the Liga Profesional, accumulating 19 points and trailing leaders Huracan by three. Having lost only one of the last 11 in league action (winning six and drawing four), Cristian Gonzalez’s men remain occupying one of the Copa Sudamericana spots in the aggregate table. Union also are unbeaten in their last five home matches, with four wins and one draw in that spell.
Argentinos Juniors continue finding trouble to overcome their irregularity. Last time out, the team showed a worrying performance and ended up drawing 0-0 against Sarmiento at home in an uneventful game. El Bicho are still unable to approach the Copa Libertadores’ spots in the aggregate table after winning only one of their last five league games, drawing one and losing three, which means the team are on 13 points in the Liga Profesional table. Furthermore, Argentinos managed a single point from the last 15 on offer as the visiting side without even scoring. On Wednesday 14, Pablo Guede’s men lost on penalties after a 1-1 draw against Huracan in the Copa Argentina round-of-16. Striker Maximiliano Romero succumbed to a muscle injury and will miss out.
Union are going through a great season and with a win here they would jump to 2nd place, just 1 point, behind the leaders Huracan. Argentinos are too irregular, they couldn’t even beat Sarmiento last week and were eliminated from Copa Argentina midweek, so I have to go with the hosts to continue with their solid tournament.
