Godoy Cruz vs Argentinos Jrs
Godoy Cruz returned to their usual standards in the Liga Profesional last Monday, when they showed a poor version and ended up losing 1-0 away at Belgrano in an uneventful game. El Tomba remain on six points in the Liga Profesional (with one game in hand), but they hold onto one of the Copa Sudamericana places in the aggregate table despite having won only one of their last nine league games (three draws, five losses). Godoy Cruz lost only one of their last six home matches, winning three and drawing two.
Argentinos Juniors experienced an excellent recovery last Monday, when they played good football to beat Lanus 2-0 at home in a six-pointer regarding the continental tickets. El Bicho put an end to their two-match losing streak in league action to accumulate 12 points in the Liga Profesional: as a result, Pablo Guede’s men are just one point behind the last Copa Libertadores’ berth in the aggregate table.
Argentinos looked solid in their win against Lanus, they still won’t have striker Goundou who should return from the Olympics in the next few days but I think they should be able to avoid a defeat against this Godoy Cruz that has lost so many important players during the Copa America break.
