Central Cordoba vs Velez
CA Central Cordoba managed a massive point on their visit to Tigre last Thursday, when they drew 1-1 away at Tigre thanks to a strike from Luis Angulo in the 77th minute. Even though it was their first point in seven Liga Profesional rounds and their 12th league game without a win (four stalemates and eight defeats), El Ferroviario avoided failing into the relegation zone in the aggregate table as they still hold a one-point advantage over their last opponents thanks to that result. Central also are winless in the last seven at home, drawing three and losing four. Centre back Lucas Abascia saw a red card at Tigre and is suspended for Monday.
Velez Sarsfield seem to be returning to their best version. Last Thursday, Gustavo Quinteros’ men secured a massive 2-0 away success at Platense thanks to goals from Thiago Fernandez and Michael Santos. That result represented their third victory across the last six league games (along with two draws and one defeat) to make it 11 points in the Liga Profesional, holding onto their Copa Sudamericana spot in the aggregate table. In addition, Velez put an end to a three-match winless streak of one draw and two defeats as the visiting side.
Central Cordoba are in a terrible run and looking like big relegation candidates despite the draw at Tigre last week. They’ve been conceding a lot of goals (19 in the last 8 games) but also scoring regularly (9 in the last 7 games). Velez has looked good lately with big wins vs Talleres and Platense, they should win here but I’ll go for this short totals line as I can see both teams scoring.
