Godoy Cruz – River
Godoy Cruz produced a worrying version in their last league game, losing 3-0 away at Racing Club, and they could even have suffered a heavier blow. El Tomba remain without a win in the Liga Profesional as they collected only three points (with one game in hand). In fact, they haven’t claimed any victories in their last seven in league action, drawing three and losing four. However, it’s still enough to occupy one of the Copa Sudamericana berths in the aggregate table. On a positive note, Godoy Cruz lost only one of their last five home matches, along with two wins and two draws.
River Plate experienced a tough return to league action last Sunday, when they barely rescued a home point thanks to a strike from Miguel Borja in the 94th minute, making it 2-2 against Lanus. Martin Demichelis’ men claimed a single victory across their last four Liga Profesional matches (along with one stalemate and two losses), accumulating ten points at the moment. However, that’s enough to hold onto one of the Copa Libertadores’ spots in the aggregate table. River are yet to earn points on the road in this competition, having lost to Argentinos Juniors and Deportivo Riestra so far.
River are just unpredictable especially when playing away, but one thing is for sure and that is that they are one of the best attacking teams in the league. Striker Miguel Borja returns to the starting lineup after scoring 2 goals from the bench last weekend. Godoy Cruz defense has looked poor lately but at home and against this poor River defense they should be able to at least score one so I’ll go for the OVER here.
