Deportivo Riestra – Argentinos Jrs
Deportivo Riestra took a step back on their fight to stay in the top flight last time out, when they lost 2-1 away at Belgrano after conceding the winner less than 20 minutes before the final whistle. That result represented their fourth defeat across the last five league games (along with a single victory). El Malevo remain on six points in as many Liga Profesional matches and just one point above the relegation spot in the point-average table, occupied by Independiente Rivadavia. On a positive note, Riestra lost only one of their last five at home, winning three and drawing one. There are no relevant injury news for coach Cristian Fabbiani here.
Argentinos are currently finding trouble to overcome their irregularity. Last Friday, the team played below expectations and succumbed to a surprising 2-0 home loss to Tigre, bottom in the aggregate table. Following that result, El Bicho were displaced from the Copa Libertadores spots in those rankings as they remain on nine points in six Liga rounds (winning three and losing three). Furthermore, Pablo Guede’s men are without a win in their last three domestic matches on the road, with one draw and two losses since beating Instituto 2-1 in March. The man in charge is still missing striker Luciano Gondou, called by Argentina U20 ahead of the Olympics.
I feel like this is a low totals line and two goals are definitely possible. Riestra has conceded in 5 of their last 6 games while Argentinos did it in 4 of their last 6 and even though they won’t have striker Gondou and they lost against Tigre, I think they should still be able to score at least once here against this irregular Riestra.
