Racing Club have been displaced from the top of the Liga Profesional table following their devastating 2-0 away defeat to Lanus in matchday 5. As a result, La Academia remain on ten points, now trailing leaders Talleres, Huracan and Union Santa Fe by three. That result broke their eight-match unbeaten streak of six victories and two draws in league action and also dropped them out of the Copa Libertadores’ zone in the aggregate table. At home, Racing have been unbeaten in their last four domestic games, winning three and drawing one.

Godoy Cruz are finding it tough to keep their standards up. After an excellent campaign in the Copa Liga Profesional, they are now struggling: after a 1-1 home stalemate against Rosario Central in matchday 5, El Tomba made it just three points in the Liga Profesional (with one game in hand and handling a pending three-point deduction), still holding one of the Copa Sudamericana spots for next season. In fact, Daniel Oldra’s men are now going through a six-match winless streak of three stalemates and three losses in league action. On away turf, Godoy Cruz took two points from the last nine available. Tomas Conechny (sold to Spain’s Deportivo Alaves SAD) and Tomas Badaloni (Club Necaxa, Mexico) left the club during the transfer window.

Looks like it’s going to be a tough semester for Godoy Cruz with Badaloni and Conechny gone, striker Ulariaga injured, which means that their whole attack is missing. Racing won’t have playmaker Quintero who is still returning from Copa America but still should have enough to beat this very poor team.
