San Lorenzo vs Sarmiento
San Lorenzo had their away league match at Godoy Cruz abandoned due to incidents last time out, when the score was 1-1. As a result, El Ciclon couldn’t overcome their disappointing five-match winless run in league action (two stalemates and three defeats). Leandro Romagnoli’s men remain on a single point in two Liga Profesional matches, which dropped them down to the 22nd spot of the aggregate table. San Lorenzo succumbed to a single defeat across their last seven domestic encounters as the hosting side, winning three and drawing three.
Sarmiento showed another terrible performance in MD3, when they succumbed to an unexpected 1-0 home defeat to newcomers Independiente Rivadavia. As a result, El Verde accumulated a single point in three Liga Profesional encounters and also made it seven league matches without a win (one stalemate and six losses). That run places them in the penultimate spot of the aggregate, just four points above Tigre, who would be relegated so far. In addition, Sarmiento managed a single point from the last nine available as the visiting side since beating Racing Club 1-0 in March.
San Lorenzo is in their most confident moment in a long time because after the 0-0 midweek at Brazil against Palmeiras they were able to advance to the Round of 16 of Copa Libertadores. They are on a good run at home where they are strong and will face this very poor Sarmiento without their goalkeeper and top scorer, but I still can’t see them losing as the talent gap is big enough to make them big favorites here.
