Racing Club took a big step towards the Copa Sudamericana round-of-16 after beating Chile’s Coquimbo Unido 3-0 at home. Following that success, La Academia remain leaders in group H on 12 points, advantaging Red Bull Bragantino by goal difference with one round to go. On Friday, La Academia also beat Tigre 4-0 away to make it seven points in three matches of Liga Profesional action, becoming one of the table toppers. Gustavo Costas’ men have been unbeaten in their last four matches in all competitions, winning three and drawing one. At home, Racing remain without defeat in the last five (four wins and one draw).

Sportivo Luqueno are already out of the fight to advance to the Copa Sudamericana as they collected a single point in five matches this term: a 3-2 home defeat to Red Bull Bragantino at Estadio Defensores del Chaco left them bottom in group H. The team beat Guarani 1-0 away last Saturday to climb into fourth spot of the Torneo Apertura table on 32 points, making it two victories across their last three in all competitions, along with one loss. On away turf, Luqueno won their last three matches.

Racing must win to secure 1st place and advance directly to the Round of 16, otherwise they will depend on Bragantino not winning in the other game of the group. They will face an already eliminated team that has only 1 point after 5 matches and will for sure not care about this game at all.
