Following that result, El Matador are now going through a six-match losing run in league action, which keeps them bottom in the aggregate table on five points, which would drop them to the second division at the end of the season. At home, Tigre lost their last three games since beating CA Central Cordoba 1-0 in March. During the break, they even lost to second-tier side Chacarita Juniors on penalties following a 1-1 draw and also played two friendly games, drawing one and losing one.

Estudiantes were crowned Copa Liga Profesional champions last Sunday after beating Velez Sarsfield on penalties following a 1-1 draw in Santiago del Estero last Sunday, when goalkeeper Matias Mansilla stopped three shots. El Pincha are the first Argentine team to secure their ticket to the 2025 Copa Libertadores and they also hold a six-match unbeaten streak of four victories and two draws in this competition. Estudiantes won three, drew two and lost two on away turf in league action in 2024.

Tigre are desperate for points after a terrible semester that left them at the bottom of the aggregate table and looking like a serious relegation candidate. They’ve conceded goals in 13 of 15 games this year including the last 7 so even if Estudiantes will very likely use a mixed lineup because they won the final last week but lost midweek at Bolivia, I can definitely see at least two goals here.
