Deportivo Riestra – Independiente

Deportivo Riestra played their best match in 2024 last Monday and were able to reverse the score and beat direct relegation contenders Independiente Rivadavia 2-1. Following that result, El Malevo broke a three-match winless run of one draw and two defeats in league action and also leapfrogged their last opponents in the point-average table, making it eight points in ten rounds. At home, Riestra lost four out of five so far, just beating Atletico Tucuman 1-0 in round six.

Independiente left very good impressions against River Plate at home last Saturday, but that wasn’t enough to secure all three points. The 1-1 stalemate means El Rojo remain into the playoff zone in group A after accumulating 18 points in ten Copa Liga Profesional rounds.
