Central Cordoba vs Belgrano
CA Central Cordoba avoided falling into the relegation zone in the aggregate last Thursday, when they secured a massive 1-0 away success at Lanus, with Tomas Molina netting the winner in the second half. El Ferroviario put an end to their four-match winless streak of two draws and two defeats to make it eight points in the Copa Liga Profesional, three above the worst teams in the league. Central managed four points in as many home matches in 2024 as a product of one win, one draw and two losses.
Belgrano fans will have felt frustrated after the team’s 1-1 home stalemate against Defensa y Justicia in a hard-fought game last Thursday. El Pirata are producing a poor Copa Liga Profesional campaign in 2024, accumulating seven points (just two above the relegation spot in the aggregate table) and holding a three-game winless streak of two draws and one defeat in this competition. To make matters worse, Belgrano secured a single point from the last 18 available on away turf. Playmaker Francisco Gonzalez Metilli is affected by a muscle injury and will miss out.
Both are out of chances of getting in the playoffs, but they are on the last places of the annual table and that means that a few months from now they could be fighting for relegation and these points will become super important. Belgrano has been nothing but disappointing so far this season, Central Cordoba pretty much the same but at least they are coming from a massive win at Lanus and with the visitors missing playmaker Gonzalez Metilli, I’m willing to trust the hosts here to avoid a defeat.
