Argentine Primera Division: Argentinos Jrs vs Platense for February 26, 2024

Argentinos Jrs vs Platense

Argentinos Juniors recovered quickly from their little slump. Last Tuesday, they showed a solid performance to claim a deserved 2-1 home success over Independiente Rivadavia thanks to goals from Maximiliano Romero and Leonardo Heredia. Following that result, El Bicho climbed into one of the playoff spots in group A, accumulating 11 points in six rounds. In fact, Pablo Guede’s men lost only one of their last eight league games, winning three and drawing four in that spell. Furthermore, Argentinos made it four unbeaten at their own stadium, taking ten points from 12 on offer in that spell.

Platense secured a valuable point on their visit to Union Santa Fe last Monday, when they registered a scoreless away draw in an entertaining six-pointer regarding relegation. Winless in their last three league matches (two stalemates and one loss), El Calamar accumulated six points in as many matches in the Copa Liga Profesional, producing an irregular campaign under coach Sebastian Grazzini. In addition, Platense made it six away matches without a win, drawing three and losing three.

This is the last derby of the derbies round in the league, and pretty much as all the others I expect this to be a tight game where if the match is not open with a goal early, both will probably prioritize not to lose. I don’t expect much from Platense, they have only 2 goals scored so far in 6 rounds and none of them outside their stadium, so I’ll go with the UNDER here.
