Belgrano vs Godoy Cruz
Belgrano are experiencing a problematic start in the Copa Liga Profesional. Last Sunday, they put up a good fight at group leaders Newell’s Old Boys, but they ended up losing 1-0. Therefore, El Pirata remain on a single point after the first three rounds of the season. To make matters worse, Guillermo Farre’s men made it five without a win in league action, drawing one and losing four in that spell. On a positive note, Belgrano lost only one of their last nine at home, along with four victories and four draws.
Godoy Cruz continue to extend their outstanding form. Last Monday, the team secured an important 1-0 home success over Lanus at Gimnasia Mendoza thanks to a strike from Tomas Conechny in the 89th minute. As a result, El Tomba remain as group B leaders on nine points after winning all three matches so far. In fact, Daniel Oldra’s men made it five league games unbeaten (three victories and two draws in regular time). Godoy Cruz lost only once across their last eight away matches, winning three and drawing four in that spell.
Godoy Cruz has been as solid as it gets so far this season but they will have a key missing in attack here, Hernan Lopez their playmaker who is injured, so I’ll go with Belgrano who should be at least capable of avoiding a defeat like they did in 8 of their last 9 home games.
