Argentine Primera Division: Union – Newell’s Odds for February 9, 2024

Union – Newell’s

Union Santa Fe produced a good performance last Monday and secured a valuable point on their visit to San Lorenzo, following a scoreless away draw in an interesting game. El Tatengue made it four points in three rounds in the Copa Liga Profesional and they lost only one of their last four matches in league action, having won two and drawn one in that spell. On a sorry note, Union lost 1-0 to Estudiantes in their last home match after 13 games unbeaten at Estadio 15 de Abril (five victories and eight stalemates).

Newell’s Old Boys took another step in the context of an excellent start. Last Sunday, the team secured three massive points by beating Belgrano 1-0 at home in a boring match with Juan Ignacio Ramirez scoring the only goal in the second half. As a result, Mauricio Larriera’s men remain perfect in the Copa Liga Profesional, accumulating nine points from nine on offer without even conceding to stay as group B leaders. In fact, La Lepra made it four league victories in a row. On away turf, Newell’s lost only one of their last six, winning four and drawing one.

Newell’s are perfect and scored in every game so far this season. Union has looked good despite an irregular campaign so even if on paper they are underish teams, I like the chance of having at least a couple of goals here between these two solid teams.
