Platense vs Rosario Central
Platense are ahead of the most iconic moment in the club’s history: following their victory on penalties after a 1-1 stalemate against Godoy Cruz in San Nicolas (and with goalkeeper Rodrigo Macagno stopping four attempts), El Calamar will face the chance of lifting their first league title since their foundation in 1905. On a sorry note El Calamar celebrated a single regular-time win across their last seven matches in the Liga Profesional, drawing five and losing one in that spell. Left midfielder Gonzalo Valdivia will miss out again on Saturday. Coach Martin Palermo will repeat the XI.
Rosario Central took another step towards making history last Saturday, when they showed a great display of effort to beat defending champions River Plate after a scoreless stalemate in Cordoba: goalkeeper Jorge Brown saved three shots. As a result, El Canalla reached the Copa Liga Profesional final and will fight on Saturday for their fifth league title. The result also allowed Miguel Angel Russo’s men to extend their unbeaten run to ten matches in this competition, registering five victories and five draws in regular time. Except for Francis Mac Allister, still recovering from a long-term knee injury, the rest of the squad are available for Saturday.
Final of the Copa de la Liga is here with a completely unexpected matchup, especially for Platense who not long ago were only worried about avoiding relegation. Even if this playoffs have been nothing but balanced with 5 out of the 6 games being decided on the penalties shootout, I think Platense are way over their heads here and Rosario Central are a better team with a much better attack, so at these odds they are a must bet.
