Velez Sarsfield couldn’t hold onto their lead and ended up drawing 1-1 away at Argentinos Juniors in a thrilling game last time out, claiming for two penalties during the game. El Fortin succumbed to a single defeat across their last seven league matches (winning two and drawing four) to make it 19 points, which means they still need one more point to secure their spot in the top flight for next season. In other news, Sebastian Mendez’s men are sitting just one point behind the playoff zone in group A.

Colon are still alive in their fight to avoid relegation. In round 13, the team played their best match in the Copa Liga Profesional to beat Talleres 3-0 at home. Having won two of their last three matches in this competition (along with a single defeat), El Sabalero climbed out of the relegation zone in the aggregate table: they are now two points above Union Santa Fe and will stay in the top flight in the event of winning here. Furthermore, Israel Damonte’s men made it 20 points to stay occupying one of the playoff spots in group A. On a sorry note, Colon are on five consecutive defeats on the road.

Both could be safe from relegation with a draw, but if Union scores and is leading in the other game things could go wild here as Colon could need a win, and if they score it would be Velez who will be in danger. Also Velez could go to the playoffs with a win so at some point I expect this game to really open up. Colon has scored in 12 of their 14 games this season, so if they need a goal they should be able to get it, that’s why I’m going with the OVER.
