Platense vs Sarmiento
Sarmiento put up a good fight against group B leaders Godoy Cruz at home last time out, but it wasn’t enough to secure their top-flight status for next season. The scoreless home draw means El Verde made it 16 points in group B after winning only one of their last 11 Copa Liga Profesional matches (along with seven stalemates and three defeats). As a result, they still need one more point to clinch their spot in the first division. Sarmiento won their last away match (1-0 at Newell’s Old Boys) to break a ten-game winless run of four draws and six losses on the road.
Sarmiento will be safe from relegation with at least 1 point (or even losing if Union doesn’t win) but they will face this Platense that must win to have a chance of going to the playoffs (they are 2 pts behind Central Cordoba who play on Monday). They will miss half of their defense (Lozano and Suso) and at some point they will need to take risks to take the 3 points, so I would expect at least a couple of goals here because one for either side should open things up.
