Independiente – Barracas Central
Independiente continue to improve their skills since coach Carlos Tevez’s arrival. In round eight, they played a very worthy game on their visit to Argentinos Juniors, when they drew 0-0 and deserved more. El Rojo extended their unbeaten streak to seven league games, winning four and drawing three, to accumulate 15 points in group A (sitting in second spot, one behind leaders River Plate). Furthermore, they hold a five-point gap over the relegation place in the aggregate table with just six rounds to go. Independiente collected seven points from the last nine available at home, winning two and drawing one.
Barracas Central took a big breather in round eight, showing a great display of effort to reverse the score and to beat Colon 2-1 as hosts (at Huracan). El Guapo made it two victories and one draw in their last four league matches (along with a single defeat) to accumulate ten points, opening a seven-point gap over the drop spot in the relegation table. On a sorry note, Sergio Rondina’s men get weak on their travels: they are now on five consecutive away defeats since beating Tigre 1-0 in July.
Independiente are confident, they are getting away from the relegation spot and thinking that winning this tournament is not impossible, while Barracas is terrible when playing away so I can see a home win here.
