Copa Libertadores: Internacional (Brazil) – Fluminense (Brazil) Odds for October 4, 2023

Internacional (Brazil) – Fluminense (Brazil)

SC Internacional wasted a big chance last Wednesday, when they registered a 2-2 away draw at Fluminense after conceding the equaliser in the 78th minute, but they will advance to the Copa Libertadores’ finals for the first time since 2010 in the event of winning at home. Last Saturday, the team lost 2-0 to Atletico Mineiro at home, which leaves them out of the continental spots in the Brazilian league table: O Colorado are sitting in 14th spot on 29 points, trailing Cruzeiro in 12th by one. Eduardo Coudet’s men are winless in their last three competitive matches, drawing one and losing two in that spell. Inter won three, drew three and lost three of their last nine at home.

Meanwhile, Fluminense avoided a devastating home defeat against SC Internacional thanks to a strike from Lucas Cano with just 12 minutes to go, making it 2-2. On Saturday, they lost 3-0 away at Cuiaba EC, but O Tricolor are still occupying one of the Copa Libertadores’ spots in the Brasileirao table: they are sitting in sixth on 41 points. Fernando Diniz’s men claimed a single victory across their last four competitive games, drawing one and losing two. On away turf, they lost ten of the last 14, along with a single win and three stalemates.

After a very balanced 1st game that finished in a very intense 2-2 draw, I expect to see the same thing here. Fluminense are in my opinion the main candidate to win this tournament and they won’t go without a fight, so I’m taking them to avoid a defeat and maybe take this series to a penalties shootout.
