Tigre – Velez
Tigre fans will have felt frustrated after the team’s scoreless home draw against San Lorenzo as they dominated the whole game but couldn’t convert any of their chances. El Matador made it three winless league games without even scoring, drawing two and losing one in that spell, to accumulate five points in the group B table. As a result, they are yet to leave relegation threats behind as the side are only three points above Gimnasia LP and Velez Sarsfield in the aggregate table. Furthermore, Tigre remain winless at home in the 2023 Copa Liga Profesional, having taken two points from nine available so far. Tomas Badaloni and Martin Garay continue to recover from their respective injuries and will miss out on Friday. Striker Nicolas Reniero arrived on loan from Racing Club.
Velez Sarsfield fans will have felt really worried after the team’s 3-0 away defeat to Huracan last Saturday, in a game that could have resulted in an even heavier rout. El Fortin made it three victories and three losses in the Copa Liga Profesional, which means nine points so far, but they remain threatened by relegation, in fact sharing the drop spot with Gimnasia LP (one point behind Banfield, Huracan, Colon and Union Santa Fe). Furthermore, Velez managed a single point across the last 15 available on away turf.
Velez has looked hopeless lately and it’s even worse as they get more desperate because they are now on the relegation spot in the aggregate table, so I’ll go here with the home win because at least Tigre has looked improved lately despite the bad results.
