That result put an end to their two-game winning streak in league action. On Tuesday 22, Estudiantes lost 1-0 away at SC Corinthians in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana quarterfinals.
Union Santa Fe registered a 1-1 home stalemate in an intense game against Racing Club’s alternative XI in the Copa Liga Profesional opener. Taking their first point in this competition, El Tatengue recorded their fifth draw across the last seven matches in league action, winning one and losing one in that time. As a result, they hold a two-point over the relegation spot in the aggregate table, shared by Independiente, Huracan and Colon. Union are without a win in their last four on away turf, having drawn three and lost one since beating Huracan 1-0 in May. All regulars are available to visit Estudiantes on Saturday.
After their midweek defeat at Brazil and with the return leg in just a few days, it’s very likely that Estudiantes will rest most regulars here so even if Union is nothing, I’ll trust them here to avoid a defeat.
