Argentinos Jrs vs Estudiantes
Argentinos Juniors are now flying high in the league. Last Saturday, the team secured a massive 2-0 away success at San Lorenzo through a brace from Francisco Gonzalez Metilli. As a result, El Bicho made it four matches without defeat in the Liga Profesional, winning two and drawing two to make it 40 points, moving up to ninth and trailing fourth-placed Defensa y Justicia by four. Argentinos also remain unbeaten in their last four domestic games at Estadio Diego Armando Maradona, having grabbed ten points from 12 available in that time.
Estudiantes returned to their usual skills last Saturday and showed an enjoyable performance to beat Belgrano 4-0 at home. Thanks to that victory, El Pincha put an end to their six-game winless streak of four stalemates and two losses in league action. Eduardo Dominguez’s men made it 42 points in the Liga Profesional, now trailing fourth-placed (last Copa Libertadores’ spot) Defensa y Justicia by two. On a sorry note, Estudiantes are winless in their last five away games in league action, having drawn three and lost two in that spell.
Last round and these two teams will be more focused on their next week commitments in Copa Libertadores/Sudamericana, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a relaxed game with goals.
