Racing – Central Cordoba
Racing Club continue producing an irregular campaign in league action this term. In round 25, the team registered a 1-1 home stalemate against Rosario Central despite having taken the first lead. Even though they are on nine matches unbeaten in this competition (winning three and drawing six), it’s not yet enough to climb into one of the continental places as La Academia are on 33 points, trailing Argentinos Juniors (who occupy the last Copa Sudamericana berth) by four. At Estadio Presidente Peron, Racing haven’t lost any of their last five in domestic action, having won two and drawn three. On Wednesday 19, Racing won 2-1 over second-tier club San Martin Tucuman in the Copa Argentina second round. Ahead of the weekend, Leonardo Sigali and Facundo Mura have both served their respective suspensions and are available. Anibal Moreno, Gabriel Rojas and Maximiliano Romero remain out.
CA Central Cordoba played one of their worst games this season last Sunday, when they succumbed to a deserved 1-0 home defeat against Independiente. El Ferroviario made it two consecutive losses in league action without even scoring. Having won only one of their last six, along with three stalemates and two losses, they dropped them down to the 18th place of the Liga Profesional table on 29 points, still safe from relegation threats but in need to increase their tally soon. On the road, Central have been winless in their last five away matches, drawing four and losing one.
Racing has scored and conceded in 5 of their last 6 league games, and I expect this trend to continue as they are not defending well but they always score at home.
