Union vs Platense
Union Santa Fe showed a very interesting version on their visit to one of the best squads in the league last Monday. However, the scoreless away draw at Talleres means El Tatengue remain winless since coach Cristian Gonzalez’s arrival, having taken two points from nine available without even scoring. Therefore, they are still involved in the relegation fight, accumulating 25 points in the Liga Profesional table and leading Huracan (into the drop zone) by six at the moment. On a positive note, Union have been unbeaten in their last four home matches, winning two and drawing two.
Franco Diaz’s nice strike in the 64th minute allowed Platense to secure an important 1-0 home success over Sarmiento to continue escaping relegation threats last Sunday. Thanks to that victory, El Calamar managed to break a two-game losing streak in the Liga Profesional and accumulated 32 points in 24 rounds, which also allows them to approach the Copa Sudamericana zone (trailing tenth-placed Belgrano by three). On a sorry note, Martin Palermo’s men lost six of their last seven away matches, only beating bottom-placed Sarandi Arsenal 2-0 in that spell.
Union has been solid at home, Platense is terrible when playing away, so I’ll go here with a home win as the odds seem too high.
