Colon – Estudiantes
Colon performed very well in their last league game and were close to securing a massive victory away at title contenders San Lorenzo. However, the scoreless draw means El Sabalero are on four league games without a win, drawing three and losing one in that time. As a result, Nestor Gorosito’s men are now on 20 points in the Liga Profesional table, just two above the relegation spot in those standings. Colon are on eight matches unbeaten at their own stadium, having won two and drawn six since losing to Sarmiento 2-0 in March. Midfielder Stefano Moreyra will serve his second game suspended and Paolo Goltz remains out injured for Tuesday.
Estudiantes seem unbeatable at the moment. In round 19, the team played in excellent style to secure an easy 5-2 home victory over Barracas Central. El Pincha extended their streak without defeat to 11 league matches, winning eight and drawing three. Following that run, they made it 35 points in the Liga Profesional table, sitting into the last Copa Libertadores’ spot. Estudiantes are unbeaten in their last five domestic encounters on away turf, with three victories and two draws since their last defeat in this competition: 2-1 in the city derby at Gimnasia LP in March.
9 out of 10 Colon home games this season had at least a couple of goals and I expect this trend to continue against this red hot Estudiantes that comes from a 5-2 goalfest last week.
