Rionegro Aguilas beat Oriente Petrolero on penalties in April to reach this second round following a 1-1 draw in Bolivia. However, they are facing a tough situation in the league. Two weeks ago, the team drew 1-1 at Millonarios and ended up their campaign in the Torneo Apertura in 19th place out of 20 teams. Therefore, they also are occupying one of the relegation spots in the point-average table. Nevertheless, Rionegro suffered a single defeat in their last six competitive games, winning two and drawing three in regular time. At home, they won the last two after a seven-game winless run of three draws and four losses.
Meanwhile, Independiente managed a 2-1 away victory over Peruvian side Deportivo Binacional on May 1st to make it 6-2 on aggregate. In spite of having produced a poor campaign in the Superliga Cup (they were knocked out in the first round), El Rojo lost only once in their last six games in all competitions, having claimed four victories in that time. In addition, Independiente won two of their last three away matches, only losing to Argentinos Juniors.
Another super low line that I have to take. 9 of the last 10 Independiente games had at least 2 goals and this trend should continue as they are a good attacking team that won’t settle just for the draw here.
