Banfield vs Boca Juniors
Banfield continue to get worse game after game. Last Saturday, they showed a terrible performance and succumbed to a deserved 1-0 away defeat at Atletico Tucuman, which dropped them down to the bottom spot of the Liga Profesional table (alongside Colon) accumulating only three points in six rounds. In fact, El Taladro are on eight league games without a win, having drawn four and lost four (and having failed to score in the last four), which also places them six points over the relegation zone in the point-average rankings. Banfield are winless in their last seven at home, with five stalemates and two defeats in that spell.
Boca Juniors wasted the chance of becoming league leaders last Monday, when they had to settle for a scoreless home draw against Defensa y Justicia in an entertaining match. Hugo Ibarra’s men made it three league games unbeaten, winning two and drawing one in that spell, which means they accumulated 11 points in six rounds, just two behind their last opponents and San Lorenzo, who are at the top of the Liga Profesional table.
Even if Boca are not looking as solid as last season, I’m going to trust them here against this very poor Banfield that is going to fight to avoid relegation at the end of the season.
