River Plate succumbed to their first defeat under recently-appointed coach Martin Demichelis last weekend, when they showed a deflated performance and ended up losing 2-1 away at Belgrano. Therefore, El Millonario remain on three points after two rounds in the Liga Profesional as they put an end to a two-match winning streak in league action. In fact, River have struggled at home lately, losing three of their last five matches at Estadio Monumental (along with two victories).
Argentinos left good impressions to clinch their first league victory in 2023: last weekend, they managed to beat Racing Club 1-0 at home, with Rodrigo Cabral netting the winner in the 74th minute of the game. As a result, El Bicho made it three points in the Liga Profesional and also improved their form to three victories and three draws across the last seven league commitments, along with a single defeat.
This River is not the River that had a successful 8 years span with Marcelo Gallardo on the bench, so I’m going with Argentinos to take something from them.
