Racing Club vs Tigre
Racing Club were one of the best teams in the league in 2022, but they are now finding trouble. In fact, the team remain winless in the Liga Profesional following their 1-0 away defeat at Argentinos Juniors last weekend: La Academia collected a single point from the first six available without even scoring. Overall, Fernando Gago’s men are on three without a win in league action, drawing one and losing two. At home, Racing won five of their last seven domestic matches, along with one stalemate and one loss.
Tigre fans will have felt heartbroken after the team’s 2-2 home draw against Rosario Central in round two as they conceded the equaliser in the sixth minute of stoppage time. However, El Matador keep their standards up. After a remarkable campaign in 2022, they are now on four points after two rounds, having suffered a single defeat across their last 14 league matches (eight victories and five draws). On away turf, Tigre have been unbeaten in their last seven commitments, winning five and drawing two. On Wednesday 8, the side lost on penalties after a 1-1 draw against fifth-tier outfit Centro Espanol in the Copa Argentina first round.
Even though Racing hasn’t been the high scoring team they were expected to be considering their good attacking players, I think it’s a matter of time until they become one. Tigre has also been on fire in attack but they’ve shown poor defensive skills (they scored 4 in two rounds but conceded 3) so I’m going with the OVER here.
