Lanus vs Patronato
Lanus are experiencing terrible form at the moment. Last Monday, the team played a poor game and ended up losing 3-1 away at Estudiantes. That result represented their second consecutive defeat in league action as El Granate accumulated only 20 points in 24 matches in the Liga Profesional, an unacceptable campaign that could jeopardise the team’s top-flight status in the future. In addition, Lanus lost three of their last four matches at their own stadium, only beating San Lorenzo in the process.
Patronato fans will certainly have felt gutted following the team’s 1-0 home defeat to River Plate last Sunday, with Justo Giani missing a penalty when the game was scoreless. El Patron made it two consecutive losses in the Liga Profesional (and four across the last six, along with one win and one draw) in the context of a good campaign: they earned 31 points in 24 games so far. However, it’s not enough to climb out of the relegation zone. In fact, Facundo Sava’s men need a miracle to stay in the top flight: if they don’t beat Lanus on Thursday, Patronato will return to the second division.
If Patronato doesn’t win here they will be relegated, they could have a shot at the 3 points against this Lanus that has conceded 7 goals in the last 2 games but I’d rather go for the OVER as sooner than later they will get desperate for the win and that should lead to an open game.
