Barracas Central vs Gimnasia
Barracas Central saw their three-match unbeaten streak of two victories and one draw coming to an end last Sunday, when the team suffered an unlucky 1-0 away defeat to Velez Sarsfield. However, El Guapo continue performing well in their return to the top flight: they accumulated 27 points in the Liga Profesional so far and are close to securing their first division status for next season. In fact, Barracas have been unbeaten in their last six home matches, winning five and drawing one in that span.
Gimnasia LP continue to waste chances on their fight for the title. Last Sunday, the team suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Tigre in a hard-fought game. That result represented their second consecutive loss (and the third across the last four league games, along with one win) and El Lobo dropped down to fifth spot in the Liga Profesional table on 36 points, trailing leaders Atletico Tucuman by five. On a positive note, El Lobo remain into the Copa Libertadores zone in the aggregate rankings. Gimnasia also are on three away matches without a win, having drawn one and lost two since beating Union Santa Fe 2-0 in August.
Gimnasia’s chances of fighting for the championship are almost gone after a couple of poor performances, while Barracas are in their best form of the season, specially at home, so I can see a home win here.
