Sarmiento vs Patronato
Sarmiento put up a good fight on their visit to Estudiantes last Tuesday but they ended up losing 2-1 away in an entertaining match. Israel Damonte’s men remain on three points in as many matches in the Liga Profesional and that’s still enough to occupy one of the Copa Sudamericana spots in the aggregate table. However, the team also suffered four losses across their last six league games, with one win and one draw, which places them near the relegation zone in the point-average rankings. On a positive note, Sarmiento lost only once in their last eight home matches, winning five and drawing two.
Thanks to a goal from Facundo Cobos in the first half, Patronato secured a massive victory on their struggle to avoid relegation last Tuesday, when beating direct contenders Aldosivi 1-0 at home. Facundo Sava’s men put an end to a four-match winless streak of one draw and three defeats in league action and made it four points in three matches in this competition. However, El Patron remain bottom in the relegation table, still 12 points away from safety. Patronato lost four of their last five away matches, only beating San Lorenzo (2-1 in April) in the process.
Huge game for the relegation table where Patronato is at the bottom and Sarmiento just two spots above them. A win would be huge for both but I definitely rate Sarmiento as the better team here, especially at their stadium and I think they should win.
