Boca vs Tigre
Boca Juniors experienced a rough trip to Santiago del Estero last Sunday and ended up losing 1-0 away at CA Central Cordoba following a poor performance. That loss put an end to their 13-match unbeaten streak of eight victories and five draws in league action. Therefore, the defending champions remain on three points in the Liga Profesional. At home, El Xeneize are on six domestic matches without defeat, having won three and drawn three since losing to Huracan in March.
Tigre wasted a big chance of becoming league leaders last Saturday, when they settled for a 1-1 home draw against Barracas Central in an entertaining match. However, they made it four points and that allows them to remain occupying one of the Copa Sudamericana places in their return to the top flight. El Matador lost only one of their last five league matches, winning two and drawing two in regular time (but that loss was to Boca Juniors in the Copa Liga Profesional final in Cordoba). Furthermore, they are on two consecutive victories on away turf, having beaten River Plate and Union Santa Fe (both 2-1). Â
Boca had a tough trip and defeat against Central Cordoba only 72 hrs ago, I don’t think they will improve that fast because they are still missing important players, so it could be a good opportunity for this solid Tigre to get something out of this game.
