Superliga Cup: San Lorenzo vs Huracan Odds for April 14, 2019

San Lorenzo closed up a poor campaign in the Superliga with a 0-0 away draw at San Martin Tucuman, playing with an alternative XI. That result placed them in 23rd on 23 points, which is far below the fans’ expectations. However, El Ciclon beat Melgar from Peru 2-0 last Tuesday in a Copa Libertadores group game to reach seven matches unbeaten in all competitions (four wins, three draws). At home, they collected ten points from the last 12 on offer.

Huracan secured a ticket to the 2020 Copa Sudamericana last Sunday when beating Atletico Tucuman 2-0 at home to climb into the tenth spot of the league table on 35 points (Tigre, who occupied ninth, won’t participate as they got relegated). That win ended an eight-game winless streak of two draws and six defeats in the Superliga. They also lost 4-0 at Cruzeiro in Brazil in a Copa Libertadores group fixture on Wednesday. As a result, El Globo failed to win in their last nine competitive matches on away turf, earning only four points in that spell.

This is a huge derby from the city of Buenos Aires between neighbour teams. The historic H2H is clearly in favour of San Lorenzo with 35 more wins than their rival and this game finds them in their best form in some time as they are doing a superb campaign in Copa Libertadores. Meanwhile, Huracan is in a terrible form and they will have some important defensive missings: captain Mancinelli, and midfielders Damonte and Ivan Rossi, so I favour the hosts here.
