Colo Colo vs River Plate
Colo Colo remain perfect in the Copa Libertadores with six points in two rounds following their 2-1 home success over Alianza Lima from Peru two weeks ago. The team also are experiencing good form in the league: having drawn 1-1 away at Universidad Catolica on Sunday, El Cacique are leaders in the Chilean league on 21 points in 11 rounds, alongside Union Espanola. Gustavo Quintero’s men are on three games unbeaten in all competitions, winning two and drawing one. At home, Colo Colo are yet to lose in 2022, with five victories and one draw so far.
Meanwhile, River Plate also are leaders in group F with six points after beating Fortaleza EC 2-0 at home in matchweek two. Last Sunday, the team had to settle for a 1-1 home draw against Atletico Tucuman to remain second-placed in the Copa Liga Profesional’s group A with 23 points in 12 games, five behind leaders Racing Club and two above the first non-playoff spot, occupied by Sarmiento. El Millonario suffered a single loss across their last seven competitive matches (along with five victories and one stalemate). That defeat (1-0 at Talleres a week ago) stopped a five-game winning streak on away turf.
Colo Colo is a strong home team and can definitely score here, and River’s powerful attack is well known so I expect goals.
