Newell’s vs River Plate
Newell’s Old Boys showed a sorry version last Tuesday and succumbed to a deserved 3-0 away defeat at Argentinos Juniors after being dominated from beginning to end. La Lepra remain on three points after two games in this tournament and claimed a single victory across the last five league games, along with two draws and two defeats.
Defending champions River Plate returned to their usual standards last Wednesday, when they managed to beat Patronato 4-1 at home with Julian Alvarez netting a hat-trick. Marcelo Gallardo’s men took their first three points in the Copa Liga Profesional and also put an end to their four-game winless streak of two draws and two defeats in league action.
Again I’m expecting goals in a River game. Newell’s conceded 3 midweek, River conceded in both games so far this season, so we should definitely see goals here.
