Argentinos Jrs vs Sarmiento
Argentinos Juniors fans should have felt disappointed after the team’s 3-2 away defeat at Aldosivi (they had taken a 2-0 lead at one point). They would have climbed into one of the Copa Sudamericana spots in the event of winning, but after claiming a single victory across the last seven league games (along with two draws and four losses), El Bicho need to beat Sarmiento at home and wait for three of their direct rivals (Racing Club, Rosario Central, Gimnasia LP and Union Santa Fe) to not win on Saturday if they want to participate in that continental competition in 2022.
Sarmiento’s crisis is getting deeper and deeper. Last time out, the team showed a great display of effort but still lost 2-1 at home to Talleres. It was their sixth consecutive game without a win in league action, including one draw and five losses. Accumulating only 24 points in as many games, they remain occupying the penultimate spot of the relegation standings, only above Patronato. On away turf, Sarmiento are on four winless games, drawing one and losing the last three.
Argentinos must win and wait for other results, and playing at home against this terrible Sarmiento should mean 3 points for them.
