Racing vs Godoy Cruz
Racing Club played another worrying game last time out and ended up losing 1-0 at Huracan, which represented their third defeat across the last four league games (with only one win over Lanus in that time). La Academia are going through a crisis at the moment, having accumulated only 29 points in the 24 games in the Liga Profesional. However, they remain occupying one of the Copa Sudamericana spots and will qualify for that competition in the event of beating Godoy Cruz.
After their heartbreaking slump in the Copa Argentina semi-finals, Godoy Cruz wasted their last tiny chance of fighting for a continental ticket in round 24, when they registered a 2-2 home draw against Platense in an entertaining game. Diego Flores’ men won only one of their last six league matches, along with two stalemates and three losses to make it 31 points in the Liga Profesional, which places them in the 23rd spot of the relegation standings, just five points above bottom-placed Patronato.
I also expect to see goals here as Racing will very likely need to win to grab the Copa Sudamericana place, but they’ve been poor defensively lately and Godoy Cruz has a dangerous attack.
